I suffer from himeshophobia !!! My worst nightmare is to get caught in a room with Himesh reshammaiyas songs on and the doors get jammed. Damn I can’t even imagine what I will do in that situation… ill definitely need a shock treatment later in the morning!! So heres a post dedicated to all the crap happening n the Indian pop music scene… its flighting with baba sehgal in the late 1990’s and decline in the early years of this decade
I remember my brother used to have these huge stacks of cassettes filled with pop songs and Indian pop industry was at its peak with players like Shaan, Daler mehndi, Sunita Rao, Anamika . Bollywood music was badly hit by the arrival of this genre of music. Singers like lucky ali, silk route, euphoria were like a real rage. But then Punjabi birds flocked together – Sukhbir, Mika Singh … it was as if Punjabi was our national language and every where, all kinds of people popped up to become a pop singer … it felt really awful, well being a Punjabi my self I could never relate to Punjabi music reason being it all sounded so same!!!
Then came along something that ruined music as a whole “REMIXES”. It seems Indians always run behind things, which are easy… just put some bass, increase the tempo, and here you have the song ready. Get some half clad women dancing and it’s a major hit!!. So the pop industry has failed … we rarely hear some strings, euphoria, lately heard silk route is all ready to come up with its new album… Mann I am a big fan of them and all the best to the crew.. I believe they are the most modest and the best group band India has ever had!!
The biggest reason that can be attributed to the fall of pop industry is PIRACY. I read somewhere that the music industry was reduced to Rs. 500 million from Rs. 1000 million in one year in 2005. so who are the culprits its “us” . Where do we get our music from nowadays? Internet, prated Mp3’s and nowhere else and mainly who is the major target audience these pop singers is “the youth”. If their main target audience is lost out, for whom would they make music then? That’s why these pop singers are left with no option to either get into playback singing or get into production. So that’s why we saw this huge eruption of remixes. Who bought them Auto wallas and Truck wallas they are quite loyal to their singers and they buy original cassettes!!!
One more reasons that could be attributed here is: easy money in the playback-singing world. Most of the pop singers have ran into that kind of world. Likes of KK, Mohit Chauhan, well they are paid well here and also the risk of taking the whole album on their shoulder doesn’t lie here, so less risky and more money.SO the next time you buy a pirated CD or download music from the net …think of the sad state of indian music scene …think of the west and artists like enrique, madonna, metallica, bob dylan and compare it to the quality of music produced here, Himesh Reshammaiya awful comparison, isn’t it?SO bottom line is “either become pop singers urself or reduce piracy or Himesh Reshammaiya, hang him till death!!!
I was waiting for this blog of yurs where u finally typed out your frustration against Himesh Reshammiya….lol…u r talking about Punjabi music sounding the same…wat bout Himesh’es music?Even they sound the same….the same old beats that started from “Jhalak dikhlaja” & his nasal voice tone! God…plz save us! Do u remember Himesh as just a music director in the movies like “Hello Brother” or “Tere Naam”? they were at least soothing than wat he’s churning out now…..
I have seen wid the Indian Music scenario that pop bands evolve very rapidly & also disappear rapidly…u have spotted out the right reason’s for it but u have missed one point. Another factor that is to be blamed is all these shitty Idol types contest. What happen to this people after the contest gets over? Where is Abhijeet Sawant, Amit Sana, Viva, Aasma & et all?I also remember channel V claiming Viva as the Spice girls of India….where r they gone? Abhijeet Sawant was slated to be the next singing sensation after Sonu, Udit etc…..where r u?
I was seeing Himesh in MehBOOBa song today and trust me he gave RAUNCHIER expressions than Mallika Shewhoreat.
I don’t friggin want to comment on this retard.
Blame the Indian audience and their music taste mate. It’s all mixed up and the real music is somewhere like a needle lost in the haystack!
OH whatever…Trance rules.
yeah indeed himesh should b hanged till death… that guy is sooo annoying….lately, both his lyrics n music r like a hammering affect to the ears ….
phew trance sure rules!!
Hey.. good work man. but unlike other people i think.. i respect himesh for wat he has done.. A self made man… selling is wat matters.. i mean look at this way that he was the artiste who actually cud sell his album in a market where no one buys music… hats off!!!! and besides that i guess now the scene is improving.. and soon u’ll listen to some good stuff… for example.. if u are really a music fan.. catch hold of KAILASH KHERS new album, jhoomo re. inspirsing music…
cheers.
no matter how much we hate him, it is true that he is a self-made man. so wat if he sings using his nose…his albums sell like hot cakes and that is wat matters…but anyway, i still hate him…lol..
btw….u the same nikhil arora from salaam namaste?? lol
thanks for the comments guys …
well still the bigger issue was not discussed…yeah enuff of praising himesh …but what about the pop industry …nobody cares about that it seems …. we are so happy listening to english pop or hindi film music …. pop is still left out ..
@ abhiroop, weve got three channels that have reality shows on music … and soon sab will start with fame guru again…utter crapp ..but people find time to eatch it … 55 lakh smses to qasi mann its just freaking mann…. so hos to be blamed …. well all i can say is if saas bahu can work so long… anything can !!!
@neo, roxteady, IP thanks for readng in and giving in ur thoughts …thought the comments could have been a bit more stronger though
and neo ….i want to kill those story writers man on picking up my name ….been suffering form the identity crises since the movie has released
hmm cool dude
u cant leave ny1 ……….?
well very nice blog ….all the comments written are truelly true bt himesh will not be a forever a singer as u have already said his style and tone is same bt dear punjabi music has the variety u cant say they r same …. as pops , remixes, sad songs, emotional and upcoming new singers inderjeet nikku harbhajan maan …well other things is that now a days music is at its height as on every channel we see diff singing competitions ……voice of india , indian idol, sa re ga ma pa …etc etc. bt where are those indian idols nd other stars ….aasma……
The other thing is that in that zee tv show himesh was so much frustrated that he opposed lata mangeshkar…..probably he feels himself as the super stars ……he is very over – attituted person …i cant understand why he always opposes every body’s comment …. may be he feels wht he thinks is right and others are always wrong ……….bt ya i listened his father’s comments that his they lost their son bt that was only himesh who said dont worry i ll fulfill ur dreams and i ll struggle for it ………and do whatever i can to see u happy ……these were his wording and he started crying …………… i think he is so much sticked to his words nd always shows himself angry ………………….as he had struggled a lot in his life ………………
well u keep writing
gud work
well, HR isnt a favourite of mine too but common we are a minority! there are crores who swear by him and cant have enough…moreover HR has come at a very interesting time in the indian music scene…cd players, mp3 players come dirt cheap now…anyone can have one for himself…piracy is on an all time high…that does equal to a lot of loss of revenue but the good evil of piracy is that it increases the reach of the content…many people who would have otherwise not been able to have a copy do now…there are always two sides to a coin,,,btw i thot u would be interested in reading this piece on why we should pray of HR so that his ‘moviee’ is a success – http://www.rediff.com/movies/2007/jun/21rs.htm
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
actually..that was a bit “himesh” style no over there…
ahem,
We should not hang himesh.
Himesh is good.
He is like a star.
A rising star.
Which is why I propose to lock him up in a rocketship and send him flying into space…preferably targeted to reach the sun.
Hanging him will only mean a lot of media coverage of such a simple event..everything will be blown into proportion..and the himesh fans shall riot.
Here, you can send the himesh fans along with him, to the sun.. where they can sing in peace…
bt nikhil u r forgetting something…just see the craze of remixes among youths…dont say tht they are delivering music…they r doin business..they r giving wht the wide range of mass want…they r there to make money..as u said euphoria, silk route ..these r the people who have an emotional attachment with music..these people have their own audience like u ..like me…they dont seek popularity..they dont want to make money…if they would have wanted money, they would have compromised with their music..bt they care about the niche mkt where people wanna listen to good music and nothing….
raha HR ki baat….I hate tht bastard and his voice….
Yu are right about the hanging of that dog-like singer. instead of him bollywood could have hired any other animal which will cost none to sing like him. but instead of punishing him bollywood is roaming here n there carrying him on its head.
You can see A. K. S. (his latest torture) and he is going for more. if we keep quiet he will go further and may come on our little companion T. V. He will go for daily sops, mega events(concerts), and sumday come as news-reader.
pls, I beg you all reading this, do something of that bloody ……..
i used to work with Silk Route a long time ago, the Philosophy is making money,, that what is the driving force behind everything,,
When Passion turns to making Money,, the jest to make rich music evaporates,, what i personally feel, is that when you make your first album it has an experience of about 10 to 20 years of pain, sweat and patience for making the album then after , there is no pain, sweat, patience,, its only making money money and more money,, the passion evaporates.
Only that is left is some beats and some rythm which lasts a few weeks, Now the scene is so bad that,, tom, Dick and Harry are all hits, now we listen to mouja mouja, jhalak diklaja no sense only hot bodies moving thier assets,, the guitars, the keys, the violins are really missed by every one,, Lucky ali is is australia, Euphoria in the Clinic, Silk Route Dead, KK in the Studio making money,, Kailash wasted, Rahman at Oscars for the shit he produced using Fruity loops.
Waiting for that sound still
